Our Enduro 410gsm Fly Air Mesh Attached Hooded Combo horse rugs are made from a heavier weight 410 gsm mesh.

Made from a custom made superior UV stabilized mesh, the construction of this fabric allows plenty of breeze to pass through the fabric and across your horse, keeping the horse cool and the majority of insects at bay, on those hot summer days.

They are often preferred by those with itchy horses*. They are legendary for their strength and durability.

The hood is permanently attached directly to the horse rug. The convenience of a Combo, but with the extra protection of a hood, enclosed ears and for safety - a hood poll strap - all in one. Our hood poll strap is an added safety feature to reduce the risk of the hood moving. We do allow extra length in the necks so that the horse can graze freely when their head is down.

With a generous drop, tent tail flap and belly surcingles this horse rug has been made with the Australian climate and horses in mind.

Our hoods have Removable ears - the ears are attached & bound in such a way, that if you prefer to use the hood permanently without ears - they can be cut off down low and the ear hole will still remain bound and prevent fraying.

Caribu Enduro Fly Air Mesh Horse Rugs feature:

• Made from strong 410gsm soft polyester air mesh fabric.
• Not recommended for horses with fine or sensitive coats
• UV stabilized rating of 85%+ percent protection
• Generous Full Cover Tent tail flap - mare friendly
• Belly Surcingles
• Gussets at shoulders for freedom of movement
• Reinforced dual chest straps with stainless buckles for extra security
• Rump darts, for a snug fit
• Night Reflectors
• Adjustable/removable leg straps
• Fleece padding to protect the wither.
• Internal lining in the chest & in the mane strip to help alleviate rubbing • Night Reflectors * (We are currently introducing reflectors on our mesh range. Currently only the white and blue mesh rugs have them)

Caribu Fly Mesh Hoods feature:

• Internal lining in the mane strip to help alleviate rubbing
• 3 x Strong Neck Straps for extra strength and easy removal.
• Enclosed Ears- the ears are attached & bound in such a way, that if you prefer to use the hood without ears - they can be removed.
• Hood Poll Strap for added safety.

Avail Colours: We rotate our binding & thread colours with each production run. Some times we may have multiple binding & thread colours available, other times only one. Binding colours can vary from those shown in the images. Please let us know if you have a preference at checkout and we can try to accommodate but this is not always possible. Contact us if you have any concerns before ordering.

Caribu offers 4 different Air Mesh fabrics - which one do I need?

It can be confusing with so many choices! The best rug for your horse on a hot day - is no rug at all. When its 30c+ and/or humid, your horse will sweat under any rug. Sweating is how a horse maintains its body temperature as heat increases. Mesh works best when there is a breeze to allow airflow over and through the horse rug. As a horse owner, its always going to be a compromise between keeping your horse cool, and provide sun and/or insect protection.

Read our helpful guide about the pro's and cons of each of our fabrics. Learn more.

Need Help with rug sizing? Please refer to our Rug Sizing Guide for a guide to sizing your horse .

Attached Hood sizes:
4'3-4'9 XS Pony Size Hood
5'0-5'3 Pony Size Hood
5'6-6'3 Cob Size Hood
6'0-6'9 Full Size hood
7'0 XL Full Size hood

# 6'0 is available with either a Cob or Full size hood attached. Generally we only recommend a COB size hood with a 6'0 rug which fits 90% of horses. Only order a Full Size hood if you are 100% sure. A Full size hood is a large hood and generally only used on larger TB's & Warmbloods. Ask us if you are at all unsure.

# 6'3 is available with either a Full or Cob size hood attached. Generally we only recommend a Full size hood with a 6'3 rug which fits 90% of horses. Only order a COB Size hood if you are 100% sure. Sometimes the shorter, broader horses, need the bigger rug size, but the smaller hood size (ie: Quarter Horse builds etc)

Rug Options (Must attach your self).
• Mesh Tail bags are available as an option (self attach) -more info on tail bags here
• Mesh Eye Covers are available as a self attach option -more info here
• Mesh Nose Flaps are available as a self attach option -more info here

**Horses are unpredictable animals and there is always a risk of a horse dislodging a hood from scratching, snagging or other mischief and then panicking if their vision is effected. When using hoods on horses you need to consider the horses temperament, location to other horses, environment and their overall suitability for wearing hoods. We recommend only using hoods in safe environments where the horse can be regularly supervised at all times. Please read our detailed user guide on using hoods and masks, things you need to consider, as well as information on correct adjustment of poll straps on this link

Fantastic service....ordered the rugs one day, attempted delivery the next (sadly I wasn't home so had to pick them up from the Post Office the day after).
LOVE the rugs...great fit and well made. Very happy and the horses look so pretty in their nice new rugs.
  • Reviewer: Kathy Drew
Great rug. I have an itchy gelding that runs in the mountains and this rug, even though mesh, has taken a real bashing. the only changes I made was I line with satin to the forelock area.
  • Reviewer: Pauline Crookes
Awesome rug, My mare suffers from QLD Itch on her ears and neck, and after a few days of having the rug on the itch has healed and her coat looks so healthy & the best thing it doesn't slip & I can leave it on all the time as she doesn't sweat. I live in Far North Qld ordered it Sunday had it by Tuesday. Would recommend this rug to anyone..

At first i was having trouble keeping the hood on but once i learnt how to do it, it rarely comes off now. I ordered 3x insect fly rugs with the hoods and they were delivered really fast and spot on to perfect sizing. Very good heavy duty fly mesh rug material and awesome quality. Extremely happy with them and the service from the staff as they are very friendly and helpful. Thanks heaps guys i will certainly be shopping with you again!
  • Reviewer: Julie Sheppard
What an amazing rug! My boys ears had been chewed out and he wouldn't let me touch them they were so sore. I couldn't even put a bridle on him. I ordered an attached hood rug with ears and what an amazing difference it has made. I was a bit hesitant leaving a hood on him but with the neck strap it doesn't move. I would recommend Caribu attached hood rugs to anyone any day. Thanks Caribu.
