Our Flinders combo horse rug feature a strong 1200 denier with a plush polar fleece lining with a separate rug & detachable neck.

This gives you the freedom to remove the neck section on those days its a little to warm for a full combo. A very versatile option. The polar fleece lining is ideal in situations where a combo with polyfill would otherwise be just too warm.

Our Flinders turnouts are made from strong 1200 Denier outer shell with built-in ripstop. Internally they are lined with a plush 260gsm anti pill polar fleece lining, with anti rub linings in the chest, neckline and skirts. These are sure to keep your horse warm and snug in the worst of weather.

Our neck rugs are very secure when attached & very functional. They connect via a long length of 3 way locking Velcro on each side of the neckline.

• Premium 1200 Denier Breathable & Waterproof fabric (Superior 410gsm x 1200 Denier Fabric)

What sets our 1200 Deniers Turnout horse rugs apart from others?

  • We only use Premium 370gsm weight 1200 Denier fabrics. Be wary of cheaper 1200 Denier rugs using thinner 300gsm fabrics. (more info below)
  • We use extra wide fabric for construction - which allows us to deliver generous drops even in the bigger sizes. (as an example size 6'0 has a generous 106cm drop up to a 7’0 with a 115cm drop.)
  • No rugs is ever 100% waterproof, but ours come close. We use a continuous run of fabric in the neck and body of the combo - no joins or seams in the neck line or back seam to let water in! The continuous neckline also helps to reduce mane rubbing.
  • Dual European style 'Quick release' chest buckles with extra adjustment options.
  • Very Generous 'Full Wrap' tail flaps
  • All Caribu Synthetic Rugs and Combos are rated to a waterproof rating of at least 3000MM - more than twice the minimum requirements. Our Synthetic Rugs also have have a breathability rating of at least 3000gr/m2/per24hrs. The waterproof rating relates to the fabric. No rug is ever 100% waterproof, as water will enter via seams & joins that can not be heat sealed (ie behind chest buckles, leg straps and tail flap joins). We use a continuous run of fabric in the neck and body of the combo - no joins or seams in the neck line or back seam to let water in! The continuous neckline also helps to reduce mane rubbing. Which Denier horse rug do I need? 600D or 1200D or 1680D?

Essentially the higher the denier number, the stronger the material. Commonly in 600D1200D and 1680D - the higher the number, the thicker and stronger the weave. At Caribu we primarily produce 1200 Denier Horse Rugs. A 1200 Denier horse rug will cost you around 10-15% more than a 600 Denier - but you will get a significantly longer life from it. Their is very little difference in Breathability, Insulation or weight - what you do get is the added strength & life. Likewise a 1680Denier is the pinicale of horse rug fabrics - but comes at a cost premium. We have a helpful guide here

Rug Care: Never wash synthetic deniers in anything but cold water. Water over 40c will damage the waterproof membrane. Learn more

Love this rug. The longer shoulder gussets provide a comfortable fit for my rather wide STB. Detach-a-neck gives you lots of flexibility and the velcro attachments are super secure. Generous drop and the neck length provides a snug fit around jaw and ears. Perfect for a bit of extra warmth without having to worry about layers. Great design with quality fittings. Will be buying Caribu from now on - quality, price and fit - what else could you ask for?
  • Reviewer: Aneika
I have been through many brands, but this rug is THE ONLY rug that has survived my rug wrecker!!!!
  • Reviewer: Kim
Brilliant between season rug. Love the detach-a-neck and the rug has never moved on either of my boys. Brilliant addition to their wardrobes.

Super warm and super lite. Perfect from my 17hh standie and short me.
This rug keeps him toasty warm and I'm not struggling to get it on him. Love the versatility of this rug with the detachable neck, two rugs for the price of one. LOVE it.
