The X-Long Gusset Combos with Attached Hoods horse rugs are designed for horses with broader builds.

Available only in Sizes 5'6 to 7'0. Read our X-Long Gusset FAQ Here

This 'X-Long Gusset' version of our combos features full length shoulder gussets which provide better comfort and freedom of movement in the shoulder area. Designed for the broader built horses - the full gusset allows for much more movement/room in the shoulders and will give a much looser fit in this area when compared to traditional short gusset combo in the same size & cut. You do need a broad horse to use these rugs and fill out the shoulders. The long gusset does change the fit considerably offering much more chest room.

The hood is permanently attached directly to the horse rug. The convenience of a combo, but with the extra protection of a hood*, enclosed ears and a hood poll strap - all in one. Our hood poll strap helps to reduce the hood moving. We do allow extra length in the hood necks so that the horse can graze freely.

Featuring chest & mane anti rub linings, tent tail flaps, belly surcingles & with a generous drop, this horse rug has been made with the Australian climate and horses in mind.

Don't like Enclosed Ears? With this design the ears are attached & bound in such a way that if you prefer to use the hood permanently without ears - they can be cut off down low and the ear hole will still remain bound and prevent fraying.

X-Long Gusset Rug Features:

• Premium Diamond Ripstop made from quality breathable 300 GSM cotton polyester blend
• Generous Tent Tail flap (Mare Friendly)
• Dual Chest Buckles
• Bartac Reinforcing on all fittings
• Removable webbed leg straps - with quality snap hooks
• Adjustable Cross Belly Surcingles
• Extra long gussets at the shoulders for freedom of movement
• Rump darts & tailored back line for a snug fit
• Fleece padding to protect the wither
• Internal lining in the chest & mane to help alleviate rubbing
• Night Reflectors are being introduced into this range *Some sizes may not have them until new stock is available.

Ripstop Hood Features :

• Anti Rub lining in the mane strip to help alleviate rubbing
• Dual Ripstop - Breathable
• Throat/Poll Strap for added security
• Enclosed Ears - which can be permanently removed
• Fleece padding to protect the nose
• 3x Neck Buckles

Please refer to our Rug Sizing Guide for a guide to sizing your horse.

Binding & Thread Colours - We rotate our binding colours with each production run and may vary from teh images shown. Some times we have multiple binding colours available, other times only one. Current binding colours are predominantly Navy with Light Blue or Light Blue & Grey. We also have teh ripstop thread patterns in either small squesr or large squares (see images) Please let us know if you have a preference and we can try to accommodate but this is not always possible. Contact us if you have any concerns before ordering.

Attached Hood Sizes:
5'9-6'0 Cob Size Hood
6'0-6'9 Full Size Hood
7'0 XL-Full Hood

# 6'0 is available with either a Cob or Full size hood attached. Generally we only recommend a COB size hood with a 6'0 rug which fits 90% of horses. Only order a Full Size hood if you are 100% sure. A Full size hood is a large hood and generally only used on larger TB's & Warmbloods. Ask us if you are at all unsure.

6'3 is available with either a Cob or Full size hood attached. Generally we only recommend a Full size hood with a 6'3 rug which fits 90% of horses. Only order a COB Size hood if you are 100% sure. Sometimes the shorter, broader horses, need the bigger rug size, but the smaller hood size (ie: Quarter Horse builds etc)

Rug Options (Must attach your self).
• Ripstop Tail bags are available as an option, more info on tail bags here
• Mesh Eye Covers are available as a self attach option -more info here
• Mesh Nose Flaps are available as a self attach option -more info here

*Horses are unpredictable animals and there is always a risk of a horse dislodging a hood from scratching, snagging or other mischief and then panicking if their vision is effected. When using hoods on horses you need to consider the horses temperament, location to other horses, environment and their overall suitability for wearing hoods. We recommend only using hoods in safe environments where the horse can be regularly supervised at all times. Please read our detailed user guide on using hoods and masks, things you need to consider, as well as information on correct adjustment of poll straps on this link

Just wanted to say thankyou to the people in your team who came up with the long gusset idea. I have a clydie x who was nearly impossible to fit due to wide neck and big shoulders. I have collected more than a dozen rugs that had to be modified. But no more alterations. The long gusset rug fits perfectly with no rub marks or pressure points. Boy are we happy. Thanks again Jillian and Matisse
