Caribu's Euro-Breeze 270gsm Fly Air Mesh Attached Hood Combo Horse Rug is a revolutionary light weight summer alternative.

This custom made air mesh offers superior UV and insect protection, but still allows plenty of breeze to pass through the fabric and across your horse, keeping the horse cooler.

The hood is permanently attached directly to the horse rug. The convenience of a Combo, but with the extra protection of a hood*, enclosed ears and a hood poll strap - all in one. Our hood poll strap is an added feature to reduce the risk of the hood moving. We do allow extra length in the necks so that the horse can graze freely when their head is down.

Also featuring Removable ears - the ears are attached & bound in such a way, that if you prefer to use the hood permanently without ears - they can be cut off down low and the ear hole will still remain bound and prevent fraying.

With a generous drop, tent tail flap and belly surcingles this horse rug has been made with the Australian climate and horses in mind.

Many find that the Euro-Breeze is a very good alternative to Flag rugs, offering many of the same benefits - but with a much more durable fabric that performs like a traditional mesh or ripstop horse rug from a strength perspective. Euro-mesh is our mid-weight air mesh, if you have a horse that is hard on rugs you may want to consider our heavy 410gsm Enduro mesh rugs.

Our Euro-Breeze 270gsm Attached Hood Combo Standard Horse Rug Features:

• Made from 270GSM soft polyester mesh fabric
• Not recommended for itchy horses - see our 410gsm range.
• UV stabilized rating of 85%+ percent protection
• Generous drop
• Tent tail flap - mare friendly
• Belly surcingles
• Gussets at shoulders for freedom of movement
• Reinforced dual chest straps with stainless buckles for extra security
• Rump darts, for a snug fit
• Adjustable/removable leg straps
• Fleece padding to protect the wither
• Internal lining in the chest to help alleviate rubbing
• Night reflectors (we are introducing reflectors on all incoming stock. We may still have some sizes and colours that do not have them)

Caribu EuroMesh 270gsm Hood Features:

• Internal lining in the in the mane strip to help alleviate rubbing
• 3 x Strong neck straps for extra strength and easy removal
• Enclosed Ears- the ears are attached & bound in such a way, that if you prefer to use the hood without ears - they can be removed
• Hood Poll strap to help reduce hood movement
• Extra length in the neck to allow full range of movement

Binding Colours: We rotate our binding colours often. Binding colours can vary from those shown in the images as new stock comes and goes. Please let us know if you have a preference at checkout and we can try to accommodate but this is not always possible. Contact us if you have any concerns before ordering.

Need Help with rug sizing? Please refer to our Rug Sizing Guide for a guide to sizing your horse.

4'6-4'9 Pony Size Hood
5'0-5'3 Pony Size Hood
5'6-6'3 Cob Size Hood
6'0-6'9 Full Size hood
7'0 XL Full Size hood

6'0 is available with either a Cob or Full size hood attached. Generally we only recommend a COB size hood with a 6'0 rug which fits 90% of horses. Only order a Full Size hood if you are 100% sure. A Full size hood is a large hood and generally only used on larger TB's & Warmbloods. Ask us if you are at all unsure.

6'3 is available with either a Cob or Full size hood attached. Generally we only recommend a Full size hood with a 6'3 rug which fits 90% of horses. Only order a COB Size hood if you are 100% sure. Sometimes the shorter, broader horses, need the bigger rug size, but the smaller hood size (ie: Quarter Horse builds etc)

Caribu offers 4 different Air Mesh fabrics - which one do I need?

It can be confusing with so many choices! The best rug for your horse on a hot day - is no rug at all. When its 30c+ and/or humid, your horse will sweat under any rug. Sweating is how a horse maintains its body temperature as heat increases. Mesh works best when there is a breeze to allow airflow over and through the horse rug. As a horse owner, its always going to be a compromise between keeping your horse cool, and provide sun and/or insect protection.

Read our helpful guide about the pro's and cons of each of our fabrics. Learn more.

Rug Options (Must attach your self).
• Mesh Tail bags are available as an option, more info on tail bags here
• Mesh Eye Covers are available as a self attach option -more info here
• Mesh Nose Flaps are available as a self attach option -more info here

*Horses are unpredictable animals and there is always a risk of a horse dislodging a hood from scratching, snagging or other mischief and then panicking if their vision is effected. When using hoods on horses you need to consider the horses temperament, location to other horses, environment and their overall suitability for wearing hoods. We recommend only using hoods in safe environments where the horse can be regularly supervised at all times. Please read our detailed user guide on using hoods and masks, things you need to consider, as well as information on correct adjustment of poll straps on this link

  • Reviewer: Jo Atkinson
I am very happy with the rugs I purchased a while ago, they fit well and the horses have no rubs.
  • Reviewer: Nadia Finger (mick.nadia@bigpond.com)
I love these rugs too, I have had them for over a year with my itchiest horse wearing it 24/7. They fit my horses well, from a QH to a TB! They take a lot to destroy and wear out. I also have the flag rugs which are fantastic, the face hoods and I have now ordered the hybrid rug. You guys have a great range and are the only place I buy my rugs from. Perfect everytime! I will get some stirrup leathers when you have brown ones again!
Thanks for great service everytime I deal with you :)
  • Reviewer: shelbie

  • Reviewer: Sue Sharp
HJane As you know, every one of my horses has their own wardrobe of Caribu rugs & I they I have not had one ill fitting rug, even though my horses are different shapes & sizes, your rugs are simply THE BEST :) 4 weeks I got my first Euromesh Flymesh from you to test out on the one the horse that loves nothing better than to roll & roll & I'm just letting you know, I am very impressed with this rug. Bert needs to have his flymesh on 24/7 as he is a snowcap appaloosa with pink skin, so not only on at night to protect him mozzies etc but also on during the day to prevent him from getting sunburnt. The Euromesh has passed all the tests & I will definitely be getting one for every other one of my horses, not only are they tough but a lot cooler than the 410gsm rug which I have sworn by for years. Keep up the fantastic job you do in delivering great products at great prices & I will definitely keep recommending your rugs - "Simply The Best" !! THANK YOU, Sue Sharpe :)
