Our 100% Genuine Australian Merino Sheepskin lined dressage saddle cloth features our removable shim pad system.

The 6 pocket design of these saddle pads allows for shim pads to be added and removed via velcro closures with ease. This system is ideal to make finer adjustments to the saddle & horse, allowing horses to develop muscle without having to replace or re-f lock your saddle all the time.

Each saddle pad comes with a set of 6 x high density memory foam Shims. (10mm thick) (You can purchase an extra set seperately)

The benefits of a shim pad system with your dressage saddle pad are:

  • Helps compensate for changes in young horses due to their rapid muscle development during training
  • For fully trained horses which change muscle definition during periods of work and rest
  • Helps correct natural irregularities in the horses build
  • To help compensate for a 'lower sway back' caused by age
  • To help compensate for changes in form and condition over seasons
  • To be able to ride multiple horses in the same saddle

These are a premium quality Dressage Saddle cloth that often retail for over $149.00. They are perfect for use under a Dressage Saddle and allow exceptional closeness between horse and rider.

The plush sheepskin lining aids in proper saddle fitting and creates an air channel, allowing a free flow of air between the pad and your horse's spine. Sheepskin pile is so dense it cools down and warms up slower than other materials. This reduces temperature fluctuations in the horse’s back muscles, reducing the risk of injury.

The 100% Sheepskin lining acts as a moisture wick. Wool has the ability to absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture allowing your horse to stay dry & comfortable.

Our Dressage Saddle Pad Key Features:

  • 100% Australian Sheepskin half wool lining. Great for absorbing sweat and eliminating excess heat to maintain a cooler, constant body temperature.
  • Quilted breathable outer shell. Easy to keep clean.
  • Satin Twirled Rope Trim. For elegant presentation.
  • High density 20mm PU foam internal padding. Designed for shock absorption and breathability.
  • Adjustable velcro billet straps and girth point keepers. To minimise saddle pad movement.
  • Cordura wear girth pads.
  • Velcro Closure Girth Keepers.

In crisp white the Caribu Sheepskin Lined Dressage Saddle Pad is perfect for dressage competition and great value for everyday riding.

The Caribu Sheepskin Lined Dressage Saddle Pad measures a standard Full size (approx 63cm wide by 56cm drop)

Colours : White with white sheepskin fleece

Care of Sheepskin

Sheepskin Wool products need a lot more care than usual. Always allow the product to dry immediately after it has become damp or wet.

Always air your products after use - no exceptions!! Horses sweat is caustic, if a product is put away damp with sweat, it will react with the sheepskin and accelerate the breakdown of the sheepskin. Repeated use of a pad without out proper drying out and airing will cause damage to the leather. Sheepskin saddle pads should be hand washed in cold or warm water (no more than 30c) using a mild soap designed for sheepskin. Avoid regular washing powders which nearly all contain enzymes or bleach. These enzymes break down the sheepskins very quickly.

It is not suggested to wash saddle pads in the washing machine because we find that the ‘agitator’ can be ruff on the sheepskin and on the finely stitched quilt. Remove excess water in the pad by carefully squeezing the water out or placing in your washing machine on the spin cycle only. Do not wring the pad out as it may result in damaging the pad.

Sheepskin saddle pads should be line dried out of the sun. Please do not put this pad in the dryer or on a heating device. Full care instructions here.

A well fitting saddle is the single most important element when it comes to riding your horse. An ill-fitting saddle can result in a sore-backed horse & an uncomfortable seat for the rider. A good fitting saddle puts the rider's weight in concert with the horse's centre of balance.

Having good conformation is more important for show horses than horses involved in other fields. Good conformation is ideal for work horses and athletic horses, but it is mainly important in terms of how it influences their performance and their health as opposed to the aesthetics.
