The Caribu 570gsm (20oz) Canvas Neck combos horse rugs feature built in ripstop and a standard half height Wool blend internal blanket lining to keep your horse snug and warm in the coolest of weather.

Our canvas range features a very generous drop and unlike others, our canvas rugs are still made from 100% Cotton to provide good breathability and performance. All our canvas rugs also feature PP trim & bindings.

You will also notice that we use a generous drop compared to our competitors. We specifically manufacture the fabric in wider rolls - which allows us to deliver generous drops even in the bigger sizes (as an example size 6'0 has a generous 106cm drop up to 7’0 with a 115cm drop.). Our Canvas rugs feature the same drop that we use on our synthetic turnouts, to insure that any under rugs are protected from the weather.

We use anti rub linings through the mane, chest and under the tail flap. Also features gussets at the shoulders for freedom of movement, double chest fittings for extra security, rump darts, adjustable/removable leg straps and double cross over surcingles.

Caribu Blanket Lined Canvas Horse Rugs Feature:

• 570Gsm Canvas (20oz) 100% Cotton Canvas
• Immersion Proofed
• Shoulder Gussets for freedom of movement
• Dual Tone Polypropylene Trim
• Rump darts
• Adjustable/removable leg straps
• Belly surcingles
• Dual Chest Buckles
• Anti Rub Lined Mane & Chest
• Anti Rub Lined Tail Flap
• Half Height 300gsm wool blend blanket lining in body and neck areas.

We use a high quality wool lining, not cheap synthetic felts. Our linings don't need to be as thick as a felt lining to give the same insulation, our linings are thinner and lighter. Once your canvas becomes water logged, a felt lining will draw the the moisture through the canvas like a sponge. A wool lining will hold the moisture at bay much longer.

Available Colours: Blue

Our canvas is proofed via an immersion treatment. (not wax coated) and generally delivers improved performance compared to the wax coated canvas. We quote our canvas rugs as being Showerproof. In our mind to call a rug waterproof, it has to be able to withstand extended or heavy wet weather and still keep your horses dry. (something our synthetic rugs and combos do very well) Any Canvas slowly absorbs the water over time, getting heavier, until it breaches the underside of the canvas. Water will also enter via stitching seams, over time this reduces as the stitching threads will expand and general grit will tend to seal the stitching along seams, however there is always risk of water entry, especially in initial use. We see many retailers advertising their wax coated rugs as 100% waterproof - which is misleading. Likewise a heavier canvas rug will provide better longer term waterproofing: ie: a 20oz canvas will outperform a 16oz canvas. .

We had 16 inches of rain over 4 days, I had Canvas rugs on the stallions as they were in exposed/breezy paddocks - I was stunned to find they didn't start leaking until day 3 and even then it was only a tiny bit - they are THE most water resistant canvas rugs I've ever had - totally stoked with them!! one of the other horses had a $300 rug from a maker that's considered the best of the bunch, it lasted 6 hours before it started leaking... a lot! so that horse got a caribu rainsheet on and it held up fantastically! have been using caribu rugs for a few years now and just keep going back, nothing else compares I still have the first one I ever bought!

  • Reviewer: Alexandria Carruthers
Really happy this rug the canvas isn't stiff and holds up in the weather well. The sizing is true to size, with plenty of room through the wither. Quality at a great price.
