How to ‘cool’ the ‘heating’ effect of oats- If oats makes your eventer or show jumper ‘too hot’ to handle – try soaking the oats in double its volume of lukewarm water for 1 hour.

This will leach out soluble sugars and make the oats ‘cooler’- but don’t add the soak water to the feed, because you will add the ‘fuel back to the fire’. It helps with ‘tying up’ too.
