Horse Hints - No 20

How to Minimize Worm Contamination- Picking up horse manure at least weekly from yards and small paddocks is 5-10 times more effective than worming alone.

The hot summer months (January-February) are ideal time to reduce worm egg and larvae contaminations as pastures are usually short and manure heaps dry out quickly- making it easier to find and pick up.

Most worm eggs and larvae survive only for 24-48 hours under summer conditions.
