Rebmove Manure From Paddocks
Removal of manure droppings
is 5-10 times more effective in controlling worms compared to
worming alone. The L3 infective stage larvae of Small Redworms
(Cyathotomes) have a protective sheath which helps shield them from
cold onditions - they can live under snow for 5-6 weeks! Dung beetles
on your property can help to break up manure and expose worm eggs and
larvae to low (or high) temperature extremes.
However, dung beetles are
usually developing in pupae under the ground during the winter months.
So it’s back to manually picking up manure at least once a week to
reduce the risk of recontamination.
